Alternate puzzle: Find the longest word hidden in the letter grid below. As in other word searches, words can be read horizontally, vertically, & diagonally, both forward or backward.

Have you done something sneaky like restart the keyword on each line?

Has anyone got any pointers on source code for the Chi-square algorithm?

Thanks for the tip Jim. But why would you write it like that - granted it makes it very easy to see the pattern, but it is no longer in a form that can be plugged straight into a decrypter to verify. Would I have been better writing it something like the following? Lx, Lx-3, ..., where initial value of Lx is 'R'

Simply because it makes it easy to see the pattern, at which point you do the 'Lx-3' decimation you describe below and declare success. If you already see the pattern, no need to line up the recovered alphabet.
