It's a sleepy Friday afternoon ... I was playing around with http://maps.yahoo.com/py/ddResults.py ... what's the longest road trip you can come up with using this Yahoo URL?

My best effort:

Start: Umiat, AK (wherever the heck that is) End: Fort Zachary Taylor, Key West, FL

is 5666.2 miles, with a driving time of 119 hours 12 mins.

What a long boring ride that would be! Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

With the help of my trusty Rand McNally Road Atlas, I was able to come up with Umiat, AK, USA to Lamaline, NF, Canada - 6204.0 miles, 125 hours 31 minutes.

it's interesting to note that the 2 different trips differ in distance by 538 miles, yet the driving time differs by just 6 hours

Great! I never imagined driving cross-ways across Canada would be longer than a diagonal line across the US. I think a road trip like this would be fodder for one of those reality based TV shows. Maybe they'd all have to pack into a van and beg food along the way ...
