A clarification (hey, I can't help myself): Two teams from the same college/university will be considered equivalent. For example, the 'Fighting Rare Entrants' football team will be considered equivalent to the 'Fighting Rare Entrants' beach volleyball team.

Do you think a wrong answer is _worse_ than no answer at all? What would you say the penalty for a wrong answer should be? Is 12 points not reasonable?

Both mathematicians and programmers will quite happily say each when talking about both empty sets or singletons. Each purple cow that I've talked to has agreed with me on this point.

Had there actually been an orange spot on the US flag, the entrant would have been rewarded with one point. Now he gets 12 points, because the answer is incorrect. (And the number 12 comes from the fact that there are 12 entrants in the example.)

Recall that in the Rare Entries quizzes, the lower score the better and 1 is a perfect score. (Since scores for questions are multiplied.)

Either stupdity or cussedness on Jim's part. I've already received two entries, so I'm not making any more comments on the questions.

Midnight can be either 0.00 or 24.00 - it depends on the occupation/custom/etc of the speaker to guess which they mean.
