Q) Who started a war on the 5th of December, 1941?

A) This was the United Kingdom (with Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa) declaring war on the lesser members of the Axis pact; Finland, Hungary and Romania.

Some mates here (in Finland) quite reliably inform me that formally there has been no ceasefire or truce. i.e. The UK is still at war with Finland!

Anyone able to verify?

Damn right we're still at war with Finland. But we're talking about the UK here (not to mention Finland, of course), so we mustn't forget the impact of climate - it is a Cold War.

We'd like to sort it out once and for all, but Tony Blair doesn't have the political will to make it a fight to the Finnish.
