A Lotto is 6/49

What is the probability that at least one of the 6 numbers that appeared on the last draw will appear again for second time? What is the probability that the same number will appear for a third time?

How can this be calculated?

This is fairly simple statistics. Are you sure this isn't a homework question?

Do you mean 'what is the probability that at least one number will appear all three times'?

With one's brain? With pencil and paper? With a calculator?

Hmfp! Just in case this is from your homework,... Clue: Calculate the probability that none of the six numbers appear a second time.

time?

Hmm, this involves a lot more work. That is if I think if it is asking for what I think it is.

Just in case this is a homework problem, I'll give my answer, but I won't show the work. Kinda of like the non-solved answer section in Shaum's Outline Series huh? Then you will still have to show the work to credit. My answer: 0.087545619

I find Excel spreadsheets to be the easiest way to set up most of these. If excessive looping is involved then I will write a short VB program.
