Since signups have stalled I would like to extend an informal invitation to Leroy Quet, Ilan Meyer, Nick Wedd, Carl G, Jonathan Rivet (who did extremely well in last years competition if I remember rightly) and Mark Brader (likewise) who comprise some (but not all, just the ones I can remember) of the rec.puzzles heavyweights without which any competition to crown a rec.puzzles champion cannot be called entirely valid.
