A class of math students at an elementary school near my house was asked by the teacher to sort the digits 0-9 into 3 groups according to RULE A.
About half the class submited the following:
i) 1,2,6 ii) 0,4,5,9 iii) 3,7,8
The remaining students submitted:
i) 1,6 ii) 0,2,5,7,8,9 iii) 3,4
All the students received a perfect mark for their submissions.... What was RULE A and how could both answers be correct?

Rule A can be: Group the numbers such that their spellings have fewer than, exactly, and more than, four letters - and the two different groups are in English and French.

of a better word that five-letter spelling (because letters)?
Yes, 4 is spelled quatre...6 letters...
Coincidently... both english and french contain exactly 40 letters total...
