Hi all

Just a question - I'm pretty new to the usenet thing (I've been a mailing list kinda guy for ages, but this is the first newsgroup I've joined), and sometimes it seems like people are responding to posts that I haven't seen. Is there a reason for that? Does it make a difference which server I subscribe through, for example? Or am I just imagining things?

Sometimes posts do go missing, but more likely they're responding to old posts which were sent before you started reading the newsgroup. Also, because of the mechanics of Usenet you may get answers out of order - you may read replies before the questions get to your server.
