The Mystery... Brad had substantial savings. But before long, he was wandering the streets with his dog, spending his last buck on a hotel. What happened?
Clue 1... Brad had just been released from jail.
Clue 2... Brad made his money from real estate, but his deals usually went sour.
Clue 3... Brad's dog was a pewter-colored Scottie.
Clue 4... Brad blamed his situation on a bad roll of the dice.

He just spent his last buck on a hotel. he also spent his 2nd last, 3rd last, 4th last, etc, making the value of the hotel.
He bought a hotel, and now has no money.
either that or his bloody 'Pewter colored Scottie' is a thieving bastard.
