This is a trivia puzzle, there's no one correct answer but I expect some of you guys can come up with some pretty imoressive answers.
What is the most impressive eventual achievement of someone who had never done anything particularly impressive prior to age 35? I'm looking for positive achievemnets here, no Darwin awards please.

How old was Albert Einstein when he came up with his Theory of Relativity? Before that he was a bank clerk who had flunked at school, IIRC...

Issac Newton didn't publish anything before age 45, I believe. The fundamental Laws of Motion, Theory of Gravity, and Calculus qualify as an impressive collection. JIMMC.

My favorite example is E. Annie Proulx, who published her first novel at age 57 and won a Pulitzer for her second novel, 'The Shipping News', published when she was 59 (IIRC). Although she had published short stories in her 20s and was a magazine writer, this still gives hope to all of us oldsters who think they have a novel stuck back there in their head

In the bible, there is nothing to special to say about Noah until he was 500 years old. At this point, he builds an enormous wooden ship (taking around 100 years to build), loads the ship with an incredible number of animals, survives a really-really-really bad storm, and then survives inside of the ship for a year. This is pretty impressive, but what is *really* amazing is that when he reached 500 years old, he fathered not just one, but three sons!

Published at about 26, for the Special Theory. 37, for the General. And don't forget the work he did on the photoelectric effect, also done at age 26, which earned him some small honors.

Why don't we leave the answers to people that actually *existed*!!

That's asking for a flame or two. I agree though.

Newton didn't publish anything at the time, but his major achievements were when he was in his 20's. I don't think he counts as a late achiever.

My award would go to King George VI. He was already in his early 40's when he reluctantly had to take the throne after his brother abdicated. He had a terrible stammer and was literally terrified of speaking in public. But then the Second World War started and overcame his problems to hold our country together and boosted the morale against overwhelming odds. Without his courage we would have been invaded and beaten.
