hi there

hope you can help me out, i got this puzzle around 6 years ago in Blackpool, UK. and i cant find the shop anymore, so i think its closed down.

after being searching the net with no luck, i came across your site, and im hoping that you might know something.

it's 4x4x4 cubed, each cube is 1.5cm x 1.5cm x 1.5cm, plastic, black and white, it should have on each face, when assembled, a 2x2 black square with a white 'border' around. have a look at the pictures, not the best, but its what i could do with a webcam.

(sorry its the best i could do for now, click on either play or next picture, if you have IE)

the two main reasons im asking you, is that

1, a few of my firends want a puzzle like it, and i will not give mine away, and also i would like others like it, but i havent had the luck to find the puzzle or one like it since, both online and in shops in France, England, Denmark.

2, and since i have lost the original box it came in, and therefor the compny name and the name of the puzzle and i haven't had any luck in assembling the puzzle since i got it, i would like to have a look at one that is assembled or get a copy of the solution, its going on 7 years so i think its about time to figure it out, and also it could be me that remember it wrong how it should be assmbled.

thanks

Well i can't help you with the name or the solution, but i'd suggest that if you want to duplicate it, you could either glue painted dice together or take up woodworking and carve up a set.... http://www.pbs.org/wws/howto/puzzletoys.html will help with some of the complex joints...

just a thought!

good luck.

from the pictures this appears to be a varriant of the 'Bedlam Cube'. there are a few web pages dealing with the bedlam cube. if you feel like sharing the pattern for each piece, I could make my own or maybe even write a program to solve this particular variation for us. <G>
