Move 1 matchstick to make a square.

You can't 'move one matchstich out of the box', bend or break any of the matches there or use the box to complete the square.

There are at least two solutions.
The administrator has disabled public write access.

1. Move the right-hand matchstick down and to the left without rotating, so it intersects the center one and makes an open-topped 4.

2. Rotate the center matchstick to a diagonal position, making 1 / 1.

The answer is '4' (in a different font)

You should move the right-most vertical match til it crosses the horizontal match.

eg |_ _becomes |_|_ |

Place the right-end matchstick on top of the middle (horizontal)stick.

The resultant is an image of the number 4, which is a square.

Or indeed move the rh stick 45 degrees clockwise, and place it in front of the so formed V and level with the bottom
